Hudson Reed Taps and Showers
In almost all traditional bathroom designs the bath is always the main feature, so keep this in mind. Towards the end of the 19th century many bathrooms became alot smaller so cast iron baths were changed for freestanding bath designs which were thought to be more hygienic. Effective Victorian styles are available from manufacturers such as Victoria and Albert with ball and claw feet similar to that period.
Pretty mirrors with decorative edges and pictures were common features seen in the bathroom. Black and white family portraits are a great way to imitate the united front families resembled in that period. Portraits should be placed in the main focus of the room for guests and family to view clearly.
Fixed shower heads with wide projections are a must have with traditional fixed arms it creates a classic replica. Manufactures such as Hudson Reed specialise in traditional showers to create the ultimate classic look. Clutter is not a disadvantage in a Victorian styled bathroom design as it creates a more lived in feel. Miniature trinkets and detailed objects will only add to the character and warmth. Modern blinds will be too 21st century so instead opt for sweeping curtains with tassled tie backs to create a lavish finish.
Vintage radiators and towel warmers will create a charming bathroom addition whilst being practical. High heat outputs will definitely keep you feeling warm in the winter months. Deep toned pinks and purples are the colours enhance the enduring bathroom ambience. A distinctive line of tiles on a blank canvas offer a unique focal point to distract the eye. Small square tiles in dark colours such as black or dark brown are the best option if a lighter tone such as pink is going to be used as a background color.
To add drama into the design a distinguished idea is to add a chandelier right in the centre of your bathroom to illuminate the whole room, remember the more dramatic the better!

my bathroom suite is grey, its really horrible and dated but i cant afford to replace the whole suite, the tiles are white and we’re going to replace the floor, but any ideas what colour i could paint the walls to go with the suite?..its not a very big bathroom, so i dont want it dark…x for those that said about the paint for the bath etc..thought it was a good idea until i though, ‘how are you supposed to do the toilet’???
If in doubt use white every time. You can always add a bid of glam with accessories like a pretty blinds or curtains. Less is more believe me this is true. After years of adding those etxras I have found that dumbing down does the trick. I’m sure you bathroom will look fine after a lick of paint.

I want to move a downstairs bathroom which is at the end of the kitchen in a victorian terraced house upstairs into the bedroom above the kitchen. Roughly how much will this cost (not including the cost of the bathroom suite)? i don’t expect an exact amount but a rough idea would be great.Thanks.
new suite = 350 materials = 150 tiles = 100 labour (5days @200per day) = 1000 sundries and accessories = 150 Total = £1750 (give or take depending on things like waste pipes, and how much tiling you want and whether you want a shower over the bath etc) There would then be a few hundred pounds to decomsission the downstairs bathroom and turn it into a normal room (plastering etc) where are you – I do this for a living – if you’re near west midlands I can quote you properly – drop me a mail. We have just moved into a new home and it has a light grey bathroom suite. We are thinking of painting the walls a pale aqua. What do you think? Please keep in mind the room is small so dark colours won’t be an option. Thanks
play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to help you imagine how the colors will look together. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family & color name, the “painted” rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours: http://www.sherwin.com/visualizer/ I think “sassy green” (# 6416) might be a great choice. You can take a photo of your house & upload it to the makeover gallery on this website: http://www.roomvues.com/ You can get color suggestions & for $5 they’ll photoshop them onto your room so that you can get an idea of what it will look like.
